The midwife is always present and each of the doctors participates on a rota basis.
Child Health Clinics and Vaccinations: Monday 2.00pm – 4.00pm by appointment only. The Health Visitor is always present and each doctor participates on a rota basis. The Health Visitor also runs a drop-in clinic every 1st and 3rd Thursday of the month between 2.00pm – 4.00pm, no appointment is necessary.
Other Vaccinations:Flu vaccinations and Pneumococcal vaccinations are available each autumn for the elderly and those with chronic medical conditions. A practice nurse will be happy to advise.
Cervical Smears: Smears are strongly recommended for all women between 20 and 60 years, and should be carried out every 3 years. The practice nurse provides this service.
Minor Surgery: Dr. Winkler carries out a range of procedures, assisted where necessary by a practice nurse.
Warts & Verrucas: Clinics are held on Fridays between 3:15pm - 4:00pm by appointment only with a practice nurse.
Asthma, Diabetes, CHD, Hypertension, Epilepsy Clinics: These clinics are run by the practice nurses with input from doctors when appropriate.
Family Planning: Advice can be given by the doctors or practice nurses, on all types of contraception including emergency contraception.
Foreign Travel: A full range of advice and vaccinations are available from the practice nurse. Please make appointment well in advance of travel (at least 6 to 8 weeks if possible).
Health Promotion Clinics: In addition to the above, the practice nurse provides a full range of services e.g. weight reduction, well-woman, helicobactor breath tests, cholesterol checks in conjunction with clinical assessment.
New Patient Registration: We recommend that all patients registering with the practice for the first time have a health check. This is important since your medical records may take some time to be transferred from your previous practice.
Additional Services: The Health Centre also offers a dental service which can be contacted on 01292 550292 and an Optometrist service which can be contacted on 01465 713429.
Available direct from pharmacists: Paracetamol, Aspirin (over 16 only) Laxatives, Emergency contraception, Anti-diarrhoea medicines including Dioralyte, Antihistamines and many more. Your pharmacist will be happy to advise you.
If you are exempt from paying prescription charges you can register with your pharmacist for "Direct Care from your pharmacist" service. This service provides advice and/or medication for common ailments such as indigestion, constipation, hay fever, thrush, head lice, sore throat, headache, eczema/allergy etc. Contact your pharmacist to register.
